Rendleman Orchards - A Fifth Generation Family-Owned Orchard
We have quite a few new followers that have joined our social community this season, and I want to say hello and welcome you to our circle of incredible supporters!
We are Wayne and Michelle Sirles, the fifth generation to lead our family operation, Rendleman Orchards located among the rolling Ozark hills of Alto Pass, Illinois. Our farm is approximately 850 acres with close to half of that in fruit production, vegetables and flowers. The additional is wooded acreage backing up to the Shawnee National Forest, recreational land and all of our personal homes.
We produce 14 varieties of peaches, 3 varieties of nectarines, 14 varieties of apples, countless varieties of pumpkins and gourds as well as many varieties of flowers. The majority of our crops are sold wholesale to grocery chains, food distributors, institutions and other farms. We grow, harvest, pack and truck our produce to mainly warehouses throughout the Midwest trying to stay within about an 8 hour radius.
We have an on-farm Market that serves as the face of our business to all of our welcomed guests. Within the last 6 years we’ve added The Fields at Rendleman Orchards, a U-pick flower field experience to our established pumpkin patch. Visitors from all over the world are encouraged to walk our grounds, sip coffee and cider, pull up to a picnic table for local food truck fare or a cider donut! Local makers often set up shop sharing their art and goods! Chickens, goats and pollinators entertain turning our guests into new frequent friends of the farm.
Wayne and I have been married 32 years, have always lived on the farm, raising our two daughters in the deep hills of Southern Illinois among grandparents and great grandparents. We have spent our entire adult lives committed to the sustainability of our multi-generation family farm and this way of life.
It is our greatest hope to share what we do with you in-person, through social or online. We want to continue sharing our story and our families heritage of fruit growing. Please visit us during October if you can. Our small town of Alto Pass boasts orchards, wineries, potters, Bald Knob Cross of Peace, a country store, a bourbon bar and luxury accommodations via Airbnb and VRBO.
We truly hope to see you soon,
Wayne & Michelle Sirles
